I’m currently in Montréal for a union conference. Things have been busy, thus I’ve fallen a day behind. Thus, I will remedy my behindness with a double post:
1. Awesome was, after a long day of flying (from Tasiujaq to Kuujjuaq, to Inukjuaq, to Umiujaq, to Kuujjuaraapik, to Rouyn-Noranda and finally to Montréal – a trip that had me waiting in airports from 10:45 Tuesday morning until 1:00 Wednesday morning – arriving at the Trudeau airport still in good spirits and thankful for the trip to the big city.
2. Awesome was a taxi driver with a sense of humour, and sharing the taxi ride with 3 colleagues from other villages. I’ve never had a more entertaining taxi ride – especially in Montréal, where my experience with taxi rides have usually entailed road rage, swearing and near-death experiences.
3. Awesome was a delicious plane meal (Tuscan chicken with rice and salad). When you spend 10 months of your year in a village that has no restaurant, meals on planes are a nice treat. With that said, I think of all the airlines with which I’ve ever flown, Air Inuit serves the best food.
Me with the plane in Inukjuaq. This was last year, after the union training in Puvirnituq…but the plane was the same 🙂
