This afternoon, I threw a pizza party for my students as a reward for their hard work and performance on their end-of-term Math “exam”. Not only did they all perform well academically, they also, for the most part, adhered to our 3 rules of test-taking: I will close my mouth; I will open my ears; and, I will look only at my paper and the posters on the wall.
Our party consisted of our meal (juice, pizza and chips), and some time together playing the old school board game Guess Who?. They loved it – they played together and had fun, and they even practiced speaking English, as well as using different learning skills while they were at it.
For their promotion of social, educational and personal development, and because they’re fun, old school board games are awesome.
